To participate in an Extreme Mission, you need to:
• Be Catholic
• Have the right reasons for wanting to go on missions
• Adhere to the social doctrine of the Church
• Participate in the training sessions prior to the mission
• Live Christian charity, which is the core of the Gospel message
• Desire to know Christ more and bring others to know him
• For Family Missions: participate as a married couple or a family
• For Youth Missions: be at least 16 years old
• Apply and be accepted by Mission Youth
• Be committed to follow the missionary code of conduct



Here is a brief look at some of the R.E.A.L. training activities you could have on an Extreme Mission.

Relate to Others
o Discussion of why participants came on the mission
o Activities for missionaries to get to know one another
o Practice for going door-to-door
o Will- power building through hard work

Encounter Christ
o Meditations, Spiritual Motivations
o Availability of Sacraments

Act on Your Faith
o Norms of Behavior, Missionary Convictions, Uniform Explanation
o Skills for Interaction: Working Person-to-Person, Effective Listening, Conflict Response
o Training for Mission Activities: Skits, Conducting a Gospel Reflection
o Guidance during the evangelization activities

Learn the Faith
o Specific Virtue for the mission
o Catholic Apologetics course - Doctrine/Apologetic formation specific to the mission or time of year
o Sending Forth Commissioning
