Author: Mission Youth

One of our main objectives for Holy Week Missions is to reach out to Hispanic communities. Many Mexican and Latin American immigrants abandon their cultural Catholicism when they arrive to the United States and Canada. We recognize the importance of helping Hispanic communities hold on to their Catholic faith. It is our hope to serve pastors by renewing the Catholic faith in the hearts and lives of Hispanics we will encounter during the mission.

In addition, the growing Hispanic population has left many parishes lacking priests and ministers to provide a welcoming environment and make the sacraments available. Holy Week missions respond to this need, offering missionaries who go out inviting people to come to the sacraments and Legionary priests who serve as "additional parish staff" to hear Confessions and celebrate Mass.
